Our City

Downtown Kingston belongs to everyone who works here, lives here, shops here and visits. The Downtown Kingston Redevelopment Initiative (DKRI) brings people together to help build a more vibrant city centre.

See It, Snap It, Fix It makes it easy for everyone to help keep Downtown Kingston clean and well-maintained. See a problem like overflowing bins, blocked drains or damaged sidewalks? Snap a photo and report it using our QR code. We’ll direct it to the responsible agency and track progress until it’s resolved.

Our district

Start at the corner of Orange Street and South Parade.

Walk south along Orange Street toward the sea. Turn east onto Ocean Boulevard and follow the waterfront. Head back north up East Street to East Queen Street.

Everything inside that loop is the DKRI district: King Street, Harbour Street, Port Royal Street, the National Gallery of Jamaica, the Institute of Jamaica and the businesses that keep downtown trading every day.

DKRI is a private sector-led initiative. We bring businesses, public agencies, communities and other partners into one space to agree on what matters most in the district, and then we act on it.

  • The work centres on four things:

    • Cleaner streets and better-kept public spaces

    • Faster fixes through stronger coordination with public agencies

    • A more welcoming district for workers, customers and visitors

    • Regular data and feedback, so we can see what is working and what to do next.

Our purpose

Keep It Clean

Now look at the store fronts. Participating businesses keep their shopfronts, sidewalks and the space around their doors clean and in good repair.

City Wardens

You’ll meet them first. The wardens are on downtown’s streets every day. They sweep, clear litter and keep and eye on the district. When something is more than they can manage, they pass it on.

What you’ll see along the way

See It. Snap It. Fix It.

See a blocked drain or an overflowing bin? Scan the nearest QR code, send a photo, and we’ll get it to the people who can fix it.

Our partners

DKRI is an initiative of the Jamaica Chamber of Commerce and the Kingston Restoration Company. We work with Kingston and St. Andrew Municipal Corporation, other public agencies, businesses and community partners to make the district a better place to do business, work, visit and invest.

Our private-sector sponsors are Scotiabank, VM Group, Pan Jamaica Group and GraceKennedy.
